SILK FOR NAILS
Silk strips (or silk wraps) repair cracked, split, or broken nails by acting as a strong, thin, and nearly invisible bandage.
How to Apply a Silk Strip
- Prep the nail: Remove old polish, push back the cuticles, and gently buff the nail surface to remove oils and shine.
- Cut the silk: Cut a small piece of the silk strip so it completely covers the crack or split with a little extra room around the edges.
- Apply the wrap: Peel off the plastic backing and press the sticky side of the silk firmly onto the crack, smoothing out any air bubbles.
- Seal with glue or resin: Paint a thin layer of brush-on nail glue or gel resin over the silk wrap. The silk will turn translucent as it absorbs the liquid.
- Dry and buff: Let the glue dry completely. Gently file the edges and buff the surface until it is smooth and even with the rest of your natural nail.
- Finish: Apply a strengthening base coat and your favorite gel polish over the mend.
